Crossing Over - Harrison Ford’s Movie - First LOOk

This is the late-summer release Crossing Over, which stars Harrison Ford, Sean Penn, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd.
The official synopsis goes like this: Immigrants from around the world enter Los Angeles every day, with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers. In “Crossing Over,” writer-director Wayne Kramer explores the allure of the American dream, and the reality that immigrants find – and create — in 21st century L.A.
The plot feels a lot like Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation (immigrants making their way) meets Crash (racially tense movie with converging story lines), but what draws me to it is the cast. Harrison Ford stars as an immigrations agent and from what I am hearing, he does not play the nicest character in the world. For him, it could be an interesting diversion from his fun-loving, sarcastic geriatric archaeologist Indiana Jones. As well, the film also stars Ray Liotta, who after Wild Hogs is really due for a great dramatic role, and Alice Braga (pictured above), who you might remember from I Am Legend.
It will be interesting to see how this one comes out, but with Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) directing, I must say that I am interested. As well, it is nice to see Harrison Ford getting back into the swing of things — besides Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, he hasn’t done much of anything, especially anything dramatic, in a long time. And no, I don’t count Firewall — that was just a mess.
Crossing Over hits theaters on Late september.
